About this tool
Large photos are slow to send, slow to load and often rejected by upload forms. This tool makes a photo smaller while keeping it looking good. Pick a quality level, or tell it the exact size you need in KB, and download the result.
How to use it
- Tap the box and choose your photo.
- Leave the size as it is, or change the width and height.
- Choose a quality level, or switch to a target size in KB.
- Press Resize & Compress and download your smaller photo.
Why photos are so large and how compression helps
A photo from a modern phone camera can be 3 to 8 MB because it holds millions of pixels. That is far more than a form, an email or a web page needs. Compression removes detail your eyes will hardly notice, so the file can be many times smaller.
For everyday sharing, a quality of 70 to 85 percent is a good starting point. If you need a particular file size, switch to the target size option and type the number of KB. Lowering the width and height first often helps more than lowering the quality, because fewer pixels means a smaller file with less blur.
Common questions
Is this compressor free?
Yes. There is no signup, no watermark and no limit on how many photos you compress.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The photo is processed inside your own browser, so it never leaves your phone or computer.
Which quality should I choose?
A quality between 70% and 85% usually gives a much smaller file with no visible difference on screen.
Why is my PNG not getting smaller?
PNG keeps every pixel, so quality settings do not apply. Choose JPG or WebP for the smallest files.
