When PNG is the better choice
PNG keeps every pixel exactly and is a good format for screenshots, logos and graphics with text. If you plan to edit an image many times, saving it as PNG stops it from losing more quality each time.
Converting a JPG to PNG does not restore detail that was already lost, and the file will usually get bigger. If you only need a smaller file, use the compress tool instead.
