Picking the right fit option
When the new shape differs from the original, there are three choices. Fill the frame scales the photo until it covers everything and trims the extra. Fit inside keeps every part of the photo and adds white borders. Stretch squeezes the photo to the size and can distort faces.
For printing, enter the size in cm or mm and the tool works at 300 DPI. For screens and websites, use pixels. Keep the output format as JPG unless you need sharp edges, such as for a logo, where PNG is better.
Common questions
How are cm and mm turned into pixels?
The tool uses 300 DPI, which is a standard print quality. For example 35 mm is about 413 pixels.
What does Fill the frame do?
It scales the photo until it covers the whole frame and trims whatever hangs over the edges.
What does Fit inside do?
It keeps the whole photo visible and adds white borders where the shapes do not match.
Will my photo look stretched?
Only if you choose Stretch. The other two options keep the original proportions.
